History of Charity Baptist Church
In the summer of 1980, six families met in the home of Bill and Davella Todd to discuss the feasibility of starting a new church that would be governed by The Word of God. The decision was made to start the church, and a diligent search was made of the Zephyrhills area for a suitable building to rent but none was available. It was therefore decided to hold meetings in the Todd home. Three meetings a week were held from 1980 to 1984. All tithes and offering were retained for land and building purchase. On March 8th, 1984, two acres of land was purchased at present location and construction was started and completed on the Sanctuary building that year and Bill Todd was called as bi-vocational Pastor. In 1987 construction was started and completed on the Fellowship Building and Bill Todd was called as full-time Pastor. In 1999 we started construction on the Sunday School building and completed in 2000.
In June 2011 Bill Todd retired from the pastorate and Rev. Jim May was called as pastor January 2012.
Renovation of the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall to the present configuration was started in 2013 and completed in 2014.
November 2017 the Lord called both Pastor Bill Todd and Pastor Jim May home. This left the church in need of a new pastor. We are happy to say that on January 7, 2018, Pastor A.C. Bryant became our new pastor. We are very happy the Lord sent this man to lead God's Church here at Charity; he preaches God's Word.
The Lord has blessed His church with all three of these men.
